SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
50 ILCS 750/4.5 new

    Amends the Emergency Telephone System Act. Requires the Illinois Commerce Commission to establish the minimum number of answering positions required for each primary public safety answering point (PSAP) using a formula that takes into account the population of the county or municipality served by the PSAP and the volume of calls actually received by the PSAP.

1     AN ACT concerning emergency telephone systems.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Emergency Telephone System Act is amended by
5 adding Section 4.5 as follows:
 
6     (50 ILCS 750/4.5 new)
7     Sec. 4.5. Answering positions; minimum number required.
8     (a) For purposes of this Section, "PSAP" or "Public Safety
9 Answering Point" means the initial answering location of a 911
10 call.
11     (b) The minimum number of answering positions required for
12 each public safety answering point shall be established by the
13 Commission using a formula that takes into account (i) the
14 population of the county or municipality served by the PSAP and
15 (ii) the volume of calls actually received by the PSAP.
