 1                       HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, There is no known highway in Rock Island  County
 3    honoring  Rock  Island  County  veterans  past,  present, and
 4    future  and,  especially,  those  who   made   the   ultimate
 5    sacrifice: 145 in World War I; 472 in World War II; 68 in the
 6    Korean  War; 75 in the Vietnam War; 1 in the Panama War; 1 in
 7    the Persian Gulf War; and those in the Iraqi War; and

 8        WHEREAS, State Route 5 traverses Rock Island County  from
 9    the  junction  of  Interstates  80  and 88, southwest to U.S.
10    Route 67; therefore, be it

11        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
12    NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL  ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
13    SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that State Route 5 shall carry  the
14    memorial  designation  Illinois Veterans War Memorial Highway
15    in honor of the military veterans of Rock Island County;  and
16    be it further

17        RESOLVED,  That the Illinois Department of Transportation
18    is requested to erect, at suitable locations consistent  with
19    State  and  federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
20    giving notice of the memorial designation; and be it further

21        RESOLVED, That suitable  copies  of  this  resolution  be
22    presented  to  the  Veterans  of  Foreign  Wars of the United
23    States, Department of Illinois, Rock  Island  County  Council
24    and to the Secretary of Transportation.
