1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Apostle
3 Richard D. Henton, Pastor and Founder of the Monument of
4 Faith Evangelistic Church of Chicago, will be be honored at
5 the Church's 39th Annual Founder's Week Dinner for his 39
6 years of pastoral service across the nation; and
7 WHEREAS, In 1948 he began his preaching ministry on the
8 south side of Chicago; he traveled from coast to coast as a
9 dynamic and successful young evangelist; and
10 WHEREAS, In 1964 he founded the Monument of Faith
11 Deliverance Center, an interdenominational church at 6848
12 South Racine Avenue in Chicago; the membership grew and in
13 1972 the church established the Monument of Faith
14 Evangelistic Church at 7359 South Chappel; in 1997, the
15 church moved into a 13.5 acre complex at 2750 West Columbus
16 Avenue; the church is one of the largest, fastest growing,
17 and far reaching ministries in the Chicago area; and
18 WHEREAS, Through the R. D. Henton Foundation, which was
19 established in 1981 as an umbrella for the outreach
20 ministries of Monument of Faith, the Breakthrough Ministries
21 was established as his evangelistic outreach ministry,
22 conducting crusades and ministering to the needs of God's
23 people throughout the United States; television and radio
24 broadcasts spread the gospel across the country and around
25 the world; and
26 WHEREAS, Dr. Henton holds a Doctor of Divinity degree and
27 has authored various books on many subjects; he is the
28 President of the R.D. Henton Logos Bible College and he is a
29 board member of several Christian organizations and
30 institutions; and
31 WHEREAS, Dr. Henton's wife, Evangelist Carolyn D. Henton,

1 hosts a weekly radio program entitled Speak Up First Lady; he
2 is the father of two daughters, Melodie and Amelia, and two
3 sons, Mark, the Pastor of the Monument Center of Life, and
4 John, who oversees the Monument of Faith Church's drug abuse
5 program; therefore, be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8 we congratulate Apostle Richard D. Henton on 39 years of
9 pastoral and evangelistic service and we extend our best
10 wishes for his continued success with the Monument of Faith
11 Evangelistic Church and the Breakthrough Ministries; and be
12 it further
13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to Apostle Richard D. Henton as an expression of
15 our respect and esteem.
