1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives would like to congratulate and honor Rainbow
4 House for the support services they provide to the victims of
5 domestic violence and their children in the greater Chicago
6 community; and
7 WHEREAS, Rainbow House will host the 18th Annual Bread &
8 Roses Benefit on Sunday, June 8, 2003, at the Hyatt Regency
9 Hotel, Crystal Ballroom in downtown Chicago; and
10 WHEREAS, Rainbow House, a Chicago based non-profit
11 organization, was founded in 1982; its mission is to provide
12 shelter, outreach, and violence prevention services to
13 individuals, families, and communities, and to be effective
14 public policy advocates for systematic change that reduces
15 the prevalence and impact of domestic violence; and
16 WHEREAS, Rainbow House has community resource programs in
17 the Beverly/Morgan Park, Lawndale, and Little Village
18 communities in Chicago; each year they provide confidential
19 services, free of charge, to thousands of women and children
20 who are victims of domestic violence; and
21 WHEREAS, Rainbow House will honor Susan Anderson, an
22 active volunteer and former client, with the 2003 Individual
23 Courage Award; and Andy Dunning, Editor of the Beverly
24 Review, with the 2003 Media Advocacy Award for his commitment
25 to raise awareness about the devastating effects of domestic
26 violence in our community; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
28 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
29 we congratulate Rainbow House for years of building
30 partnerships to end domestic violence and wish the
31 organization success at the 18th Annual Bread & Roses

2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to the dedicated staff of Rainbow House.
