1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of
3 the State of Illinois would like to thank the organizers,
4 volunteers, and participants of the Centralia Relay for Life
5 for their hard work and contributions to the event; and
6 WHEREAS, Relay for Life is an annual fundraiser for the
7 American Cancer Society; and
8 WHEREAS, Each year, the Relay for Life consists of teams
9 which commit to having one member walk the track during the
10 entire event; the opening lap at each relay is traditionally
11 known as the Survivor's Lap, which is walked by cancer
12 survivors; and
13 WHEREAS, Melynda Wesling, Vicky Vaughn, LynAnn Pigg, and
14 Jamie Elmore served as the Co-Chairmen for the Centralia
15 relay; Kim McMillan has put in countless hours in the past
16 for the event; therefore, be it
17 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19 we congratulate Melynda Wesling, Vicky Vaughn, LynAnn Pigg,
20 Jamie Elmore, and Kim McMillan for their extensive work in
21 support of the Centralia Relay for Life annual event, both in
22 2003 and in the past; and be it further
23 RESOLVED, That we extend our heartiest thanks to the
24 volunteers, cancer survivors, and participants for their work
25 on behalf of cancer research and awareness, and we honor the
26 memory of the victims of cancer; and be it further
27 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
28 presented to Melynda Wesling, Vicky Vaughn, LynAnn Pigg,
29 Jamie Elmore, and Kim McMillan as an expression of our
30 sincere gratitude and respect.
