| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of this Body are honored to recognize | 3 |
| significant milestones in the lives of the people of this | 4 |
| State; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mrs. Berneice | 6 |
| Kenny of Arlington is celebrating the 100th anniversary of her | 7 |
| birth; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Kenny was born March 14, 1904, in Arlington, | 9 |
| to Mr. and Mrs. John McNally; and
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Kenny attended school and later became a | 11 |
| school teacher, teaching in a one-room schoolhouse; she has | 12 |
| taught for over 70 years; she has retired many times only to | 13 |
| find herself back in the classroom for remedial studies or to | 14 |
| substitute teach; and
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Kenny attends mass at Holy Trinity Church in | 16 |
| Cherry or St. Patrick's Church in Arlington every week; she | 17 |
| currently lives by herself on a forty-acre farm, complete with | 18 |
| horses, dogs, and outbuildings; she is very active and | 19 |
| well-known in her community; she is known as a generous and | 20 |
| caring individual that has given of herself to her friends, | 21 |
| family, and community for many years; and | 22 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Kenny has seen World War I, World War II, the | 23 |
| Great Depression, the Vietnam War, the Cherry Mine Disaster, a | 24 |
| man walk on the moon, the tragedy of September 11, 2001, the | 25 |
| passing away of two husbands and her son, and the list goes on; | 26 |
| therefore, be it | 27 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 28 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 29 |
| congratulate Mrs. Berneice Kenny on the occasion of her 100th |

| birthday, and we extend to Mrs. Kenny our sincere best wishes | 2 |
| for the future; and be it further | 3 |
