 1                     AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend Senate Bill 2 on  page  2,  by
 3    replacing line 1 with the following:
 4    "than:  (i)  sex  or  (ii)  a  factor  that  would constitute
 5    unlawful  discrimination  under  the  Illinois  Human  Rights
 6    Act."; and

 7    on page 4, line 25, by changing "$5,000" to "$2,500"; and

 8    on page 5, line 17, by inserting "or  consulted  counsel  for
 9    such purposes" after "Act"; and

10    on   page  5,  line  20,  by  changing  "commits  a  class  B
11    misdemeanor" to "shall be liable to  the  employee  for  such
12    legal   and   equitable  relief  as  may  be  appropriate  to
13    effectuate the purposes of this Section,  the  value  of  any
14    lost  benefits, backpay, and front pay as appropriate so long
15    as the employee has made reasonable efforts to  mitigate  his
16    or  her  damages and an additional equal amount as liquidated
17    damages".
