 1                    AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 306

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend Senate Bill  306  on  page  1,
 3    line 12, after the period, by inserting the following:
 4    "These  services  may  include comprehensive risk assessments
 5    for  pregnant  women  and  infants,   lactation   counseling,
 6    nutrition   counseling,   childbirth   support,  psychosocial
 7    counseling, treatment and prevention of periodontal  disease,
 8    and  other  support services that have been proven to improve
 9    birth outcomes."; and

10    on page 1, line  20,  after  the  period,  by  inserting  the
11    following:
12    "Each  such  report  shall  include  an evaluation of how the
13    ratio of expenditures for  treating  low-birthweight  infants
14    compared  with the investment in promoting healthy births and
15    infants in local community areas throughout Illinois  relates
16    to healthy infant development in those areas.".
