 1                    AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 679

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend Senate Bill 679 on page 1,  by
 3    replacing lines 15 through 31 with the following:
 4        "(A-5)  Language. For an employer to impose a restriction
 5    that  has  the  effect  of  prohibiting a language from being
 6    spoken by an employee in communications that are unrelated to
 7    the employee's duties.
 8        For the purposes of this  subdivision  (A-5),  "language"
 9    means  a  person's native tongue, such as Polish, Spanish, or
10    Chinese. "Language" does not include such  things  as  slang,
11    jargon, profanity, or vulgarity.".
