1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of William L.
4 Taylor of Springfield on Tuesday, January 21, 2003; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor was born on December 25, 1914 in
6 Springfield to Albert Lee and Ethel M. Baugh Taylor; he
7 married Violet Hart in 1934 in Crown Point, Indiana; she
8 preceded him in death in 1991; and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War
10 II, serving on the aircraft carrier Bon Homme Richard; he
11 owned and operated Railsplitters Motor Sales from 1946 until
12 his retirement in 1972; and
13 WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor was a founder and board member of the
14 Springfield Caps and past president of Springfield New Car
15 Dealers Association; he was a past member of the Sangamo
16 Club, Illinois Auto Dealers Association, National Dealer
17 Council for Chrysler Motors, Oakcrest Country Club, Illini
18 Country Club, and Suncoast Cathedral Assembly of God in St.
19 Petersburg, Florida; he was active in the Salvation Army in
20 St. Petersburg; and
21 ief WHEREAS, The passing of Mr. Taylor has been felt by
22 many, especially his two sons, William H. (wife, Leajeanne)
23 and Keith L. (wife, Deborah Hagan) Taylor; his 12
24 grandchildren, Deborah O'Shea, Julie Tones, Dana Sheffield,
25 Ginger Taylor, Gregory Lawley, Scott and Alesia Taylor,
26 Daniel Bitner, Sarah, Abigayle, Brodie and Andrew Taylor; his
27 nine great-grandchildren; his nephew; and his several
28 cousins; therefore, be it
29 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
30 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing
31 of William L. Taylor and extend to his family and friends our

2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to the family of William L. Taylor with our
