1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of J.T. "Jaker"
4 Weatherford of Carlinville on April 6, 2003; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Weatherford was born on December 28, 1923 in
6 West Frankfort, the son of Tim Sr. and Edna F. Jones
7 Weatherford; he married Shirley Lee Williams in 1949 in
8 Carlinville; and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Weatherford was a United States Army veteran
10 of World War II, serving in North Africa and Italy; he was in
11 the nursing home business for more than 38 years; he bought
12 Mounts Estate in 1946 and opened Weatherford Nursing Home in
13 Carlinville in 1947; he and his wife built Sunshine Manor in
14 1975 and operated it until his retirement in 1985; and
15 WHEREAS, Mr. Weatherford was a member of Guy Baird
16 American Legion Post 554, John L. Meyers VFW Post 1104 in
17 Carlinville, Gideons, Shriners Club, and First Assembly of
18 God for many years; he was a 50-year member of Carlinville
19 Lions Club and Mount Nebo Masonic Lodge; and
20 WHEREAS, Mr. Weatherford's passing will be deeply felt by
21 many, especially his wife, Shirley Lee; his three daughters,
22 Kathy (husband, Tom) Dugger, Janie (husband, Jim) Ashworth,
23 and Jeri Lynn (husband, Jerry) Murphy; his son, Ennio (wife,
24 Paola) Weatherford; his nine grandchildren; his two
25 great-grandchildren; his two sisters, Delores Brown and Marie
26 Welte; and his brother, Tim Weatherford; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
28 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of
29 J.T. "Jaker" Weatherford along with all who knew and loved
30 him and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
31 friends, and community; and be it further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of J.T. "Jaker" Weatherford with our
3 deepest sympathy.
