1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of William R.
4 Deutsch of Jacksonville on Monday, August 11, 2003; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Deutsch was born on May 18, 1924 in
6 Jacksonville to William W. and Helen Anderson Reaugh Deutsch;
7 he married Mari Kaler on January 24, 1950; and
8 WHEREAS, Mr. Deutsch attended Illinois College; he became
9 executive vice president of Illinois Petroleum Marketers
10 Association (IPMA) in 1967 and created Illinois Association
11 of Convenience Stores (IACS) in 1982; he served 2 governors
12 on energy crisis committees and was advisor of the School
13 Energy Planning Committee; and
14 WHEREAS, Mr. Deutsch was a member of the American Society
15 of Association Executives and a past president of the
16 Illinois Chapter; in 1984, he was selected speaker of the
17 Illinois Third House; and
18 WHEREAS, During his tenure with IPMA and IACS, he oversaw
19 the construction of a new executive office building located
20 at 112 West Cook Street in Springfield; upon his retirement
21 in 1994, the building was designated the William R. Deutsch
22 Building; and
23 WHEREAS, The passing of William R. Deutsch has been
24 deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Mari; his son,
25 William M. (wife, Christine); his daughters, Denise "Dee Dee"
26 (husband, Robert) Hall and Mary Michelle "Shelley" (husband,
27 Jeffrey) Trost; and his grandchildren, Tyler Reaugh, Andrew
28 Kaler, Mary Elizabeth Hall, and Catherine Mari Deutsch;
29 therefore, be it
30 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
31 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing

1 of William R. Deutsch and extend our sincerest condolences to
2 his friends, family, and all who knew and loved him; and be
3 it further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to the family of William R. Deutsch as an
