1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois learned with regret of the death of Truman P.
4 Hudson of Grayslake on Sunday, October 26, 2003; and
5 WHEREAS, Truman P. Hudson was born on December 10, 1922,
6 in Waukegan; he was a graduate of Illinois State University
7 and held a master's degree from Northwestern University; Mr.
8 Truman also served his country from 1943 to 1946 in the
9 United States Army; and
10 WHEREAS, Mr. Hudson served the Zion community first as an
11 elementary school principal and band director for 30 years,
12 and then as Zion Township supervisor from 1981 to 2000; and
13 WHEREAS, Mr. Hudson served his community through his many
14 memberships and committees, including as president of the
15 Lake County Principals Association, as treasurer of Lake
16 Mound Cemetery in Zion, as past commander of American Legion
17 Post 865, as a member of Milburn Masonic Lodge #127, the
18 Scottish Rites Valley of Chicago, Medina Shrine, the Lake
19 County Shrine Club, the Kenosha Shrine Club, the Zion-Benton
20 Moose Lodge, and the Zion Lions Club; in addition, he was the
21 past president of the Zion Exchange Club, recipient of the
22 Golden Deeds award in 1990, and served on the Zion Jubilee
23 Board, the Zion Historical Society, the Salvation Army Board
24 of Directors, A.A.R.P., the Illinois Sheriffs Association,
25 the Navy League of the United States, the Township Officials
26 of Illinois, the Illinois Retired Teachers Association, and
27 the Waukegan Musicians Union Local #284; and
28 WHEREAS, The passing of Truman P. Hudson has been deeply
29 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his loving
30 wife, Mary Helen (nee Kohlmiller); his children, Amy (Ken)
31 Lechman, Martha (Rick) Robarge, and James (MinCha) Hudson;
32 his grandchildren, Katherine, Olivia, Sayge, Bree,

1 Christopher, and Phillip; his great-grandchildren; and his
2 sister, Marie (Burt) Congdon; he was preceded in death by his
3 parents, Charles and Ester Hudson; his daughter, Suzanne
4 Palmer; and by his granddaughter, Hyanna Hudson; and
5 WHEREAS, The world was a better place because of the love
6 and music Truman Hudson gave to all who knew him; therefore,
7 be it
8 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10 all who knew him, the death of Truman P. Hudson, of
11 Grayslake; and be it further
12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of Truman P. Hudson as an expression
14 of our sincerest condolences.
