1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were deeply saddened to learn of the death of United
4 States Army Specialist Ryan G. Carlock of Macomb who died in
5 combat when his fuel truck was attacked in Iraq on Tuesday,
6 September 9, 2003; and
7 WHEREAS, A 1999 Colchester High School graduate,
8 Specialist Carlock was assigned to the 416th Transportation
9 Company, 260th Quartermaster Battalion (Petroleum Support),
10 based at Hunter Army Airfield in Georgia; he left for Kuwait
11 on March 24, 2003; his main duty in Iraq was driving tankers
12 that carried fuel for military vehicles around Baghdad; and
13 WHEREAS, Specialist Carlock was married to Heather French
14 and was the father of two daughters; and
15 WHEREAS, Specialist Carlock comes from a long line of
16 service men and women; he planned to join the United States
17 Air Force and remain stateside to be near his family; and
18 WHEREAS, Specialist Carlock's passing has been deeply
19 felt by many, especially his wife, Heather; his father and
20 stepmother, Randy and Kay Carlock; his mother and stepfather,
21 Terry and Patricia Evans; his sister, Martina; and his two
22 daughters; therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
24 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing
25 of Specialist Ryan G. Carlock, United States Army, along with
26 all who knew and loved him and extend our sincere condolences
27 to his family and friends; and be it further
28 RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Specialist Carlock
29 and his willingness to serve our country, which led to him
30 making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of Specialist Ryan G. Carlock as an
3 expression of our deepest sympathy.
