| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Laura Melany Valentine of |
4 |
| East Peoria on Saturday, January 3, 2004; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Miss Valentine was born on August 21, 1987, in |
6 |
| Peoria to Stan and Sandy Lennox Valentine; she was a junior at |
7 |
| East Peoria High School; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, Miss Valentine was a youth chairman for Relay for |
9 |
| Life for Peoria in 2002 and for East Peoria in 2003; she was a |
10 |
| personal attendant for Children with Disabilities in the East |
11 |
| Peoria area; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, She received the Young Hero Award from the |
13 |
| Illinois Air National Guard 183rd Fighter Wing in Springfield; |
14 |
| and |
15 |
| WHEREAS, Miss Valentine volunteered for St. Jude and the |
16 |
| Children's Miracle Network Telethon; she was an avid fan of the |
17 |
| Peoria Rivermen and was a member of the Fondulac Congregational |
18 |
| Church in East Peoria; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Laura Melany Valentine has been |
20 |
| deeply felt by many, especially her parents, Stan and Sandy |
21 |
| Lennox Valentine; her brothers, Jack Valentine and Doug |
22 |
| Valentine; her grandparents, Ruby Valentine and Norm and Mary |
23 |
| Lennox; and her great-grandmother, Anne Sinclair; therefore, |
24 |
| be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
27 |
| Laura Melany Valentine, and we offer our sincere condolences to |
28 |
| her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
