SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

305 ILCS 5/5-5e new

Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code. Provides that the Department of Healthcare and Family Services shall extend traditional services under the Medicaid program to individuals with autism. Provides that these services shall include, but need not be limited to, applied behavioral therapy, speech services, and other necessary healthcare services. Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning public aid.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by adding Section 5-5e as follows:

(305 ILCS 5/5-5e new)

Sec. 5-5e. Autism. The Department of Healthcare and Family Services shall extend traditional services under the medical assistance program under this Article to individuals with autism. These services shall include, but need not be limited to, applied behavioral therapy, speech services, and other necessary healthcare services.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
