HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois congratulate John S. Maxson on his new position as President and Chief Executive Officer of The Greater North Michigan Avenue Association; and

WHEREAS, John Maxson most recently served as President of the Illinois Coalition, a not-for-profit public-private partnership with the mission to create and help Illinois-based tech entrepreneurs grow their companies and by assisting the State's universities and national labs; prior to joining the Coalition in 2002, he held diverse management positions for three decades at Commonwealth Edison (now Exelon Corporation), including 11 years based in Washington, D.C. as the corporation's government affairs manager; and

WHEREAS, The Greater North Michigan Avenue Association is the community organization that represents and informs the many and diverse interests within its geographical boundaries - Randolph Street to North Avenue, Lake Michigan to the North Branch Canal; the Association seeks to preserve, promote, and enhance a vibrant, growing, and stable community, "The Magnificent Mile", by identifying, articulating, and serving the needs of membership; the commercial area the Association represents is world-renowned as a destination of choice for its vibrant mix of high-end retail brands, commercial developments, business headquarters, and residential living; and

WHEREAS, John Maxson has been active on the Men's Council at the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Chicago Chapter of the American Nuclear Society, the Boy Scouts of America, the Hugh O'Brien Youth Foundation, the Chicago Jaycees, and other professional and social organizations; and

WHEREAS, John Maxson is a graduate of MacMurray College and the Northwestern University Graduate School of Management; he and his wife, Jennifer, have two adult children; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate John S. Maxson and wish him well in his new position; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to John S. Maxson as an expression of our esteem.
