| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the | 3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Mary Kay | 4 |
| Morrissey on the occasion of her retirement from the position | 5 |
| of Village Manager for the Village of Niles; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, After growing up in Rockford, Illinois, Mary Kay | 7 |
| graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1964 with a BS in | 8 |
| Occupational Therapy; after graduation, she worked from 1965 | 9 |
| through 1969 at Passavant Hospital, where she started the | 10 |
| Occupational Therapy program in the hospital's psychiatric | 11 |
| unit; in 1970-1971, she worked as an occupational therapist in | 12 |
| the adolescent psychiatric unit at Los Angeles County Hospital; | 13 |
| in 1971-1973, she started the Psychiatric Day Hospital in | 14 |
| conjunction with Wesley Memorial and Passavant Hospitals, | 15 |
| which in 1972 merged to become Northwestern Memorial Hospital; | 16 |
| and
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, In 1973-1974, Mary Kay served as an occupational | 18 |
| therapy consultant for three Jewish homes for the aged; and
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, In 1974, recognizing Mary Kay's demonstrated | 20 |
| abilities, the Village of Niles hired her to head the Niles | 21 |
| Senior Citizens Department when it was founded; in that | 22 |
| position, she started the senior center and moved the program | 23 |
| into the Trident Center in 1976; she later was appointed the | 24 |
| Director of Human Services for the Village, where she was | 25 |
| responsible for both the Senior Citizens Department and Family | 26 |
| Services; and
| 27 |
| WHEREAS, The Village again broadened Mary Kay's | 28 |
| responsibilities by appointing her Assistant Village Manager; | 29 |
| in 1984, she earned a Master's in Public Administration from | 30 |
| DePaul University; three years ago, she was appointed the | 31 |
| Village Manager; and

| WHEREAS, Over the years, Mary Kay has served her community | 2 |
| in many ways besides her positions of employment, including: | 3 |
| Co-chairman, Northwest Municipal Conference - Best Practices | 4 |
| Teardowns; Chairman, Sister Cities Commission and Association; | 5 |
| Member, Building Committee for the Village hall, Human Services | 6 |
| and Fitness Center, and Police Station; Board Member of Jets | 7 |
| Board - Northwest Community Dispatch; Professor, University of | 8 |
| Illinois at Chicago, Occupational Therapy Department, where | 9 |
| she was in charge of students on internship; Co-chairman and | 10 |
| member, Healthy Community Partnership; and member of the | 11 |
| negotiating team for three union negotiations; and | 12 |
| WHEREAS, After retirement, Mary Kay looks forward to being | 13 |
| able to spend more time with her family; she and her husband, | 14 |
| George, a retired Cook County Associate Judge, would like to | 15 |
| spend about two months of the year in Florida in a condominium | 16 |
| they own north of Fort Lauderdale and the rest of the time in | 17 |
| the Chicago area, where their two daughters, Meghan and | 18 |
| Colleen, live; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 20 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 21 |
| we congratulate Mary Kay Morrissey on the occasion of her | 22 |
| retirement from the position of Village Manager for the Village | 23 |
| of Niles, and we offer our hearty thanks for her devotion to | 24 |
| serving the needs of Niles residents for more than thirty | 25 |
| years; and be it further
| 26 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 27 |
| presented to Mary Kay Morrissey as an expression of our respect | 28 |
| and esteem and with best wishes for a relaxing retirement.
