| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
| 3 |
| State of Illinois
offer our sincere congratulations to Frank | 4 |
| and Verna Clayton on the occasion of their 50th wedding | 5 |
| anniversary; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Frank and Verna were married on February 4, 1956; | 7 |
| they are the proud parents of two children, Valerie Euneman and | 8 |
| Barry Clayton, the grandparents of five grandchildren, Jason, | 9 |
| Kara, and Kristi Euneman and Alexandra and Matthew Clayton, and | 10 |
| the great-grandparents of two great-grandchildren, Julien and | 11 |
| Deshawn; and
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, The honorable Verna Clayton served the Illinois | 13 |
| General Assembly as a State Representative for three | 14 |
| consecutive terms, representing the Buffalo Grove area; prior | 15 |
| to being elected to the General Assembly, she served as the | 16 |
| Buffalo Grove Village Clerk from 1971 to 1979 and was elected | 17 |
| Buffalo Grove Village President, a position she held from 1979 | 18 |
| to 1991; and
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, The Clayton family shared Verna's wisdom, | 20 |
| kindness, and love with the General Assembly during her tenure; | 21 |
| because of the family's sacrifice, Verna was able to become the | 22 |
| Minority Spokesperson for the Elections and State Government | 23 |
| Committee, as well as the Vice Chairman of the Executive | 24 |
| Committee; and
| 25 |
| WHEREAS, Frank served in the United States Navy as a 2nd | 26 |
| class petty officer from 1951 to 1954; he received his Bachelor | 27 |
| of Science in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma University; | 28 |
| and
| 29 |
| WHEREAS, Frank worked for Western Electric and Honeywell | 30 |
| before joining Torkelson Associates where he became the |

| Executive Vice President; he also donated his time and energy | 2 |
| to the community by serving on the Illinois District 96 School | 3 |
| Board from 1971 to 1974 and the Illinois District 125 School | 4 |
| Board from 1974 to 1980, where he also served as President from | 5 |
| 1978-1980, and by serving as Highway Commissioner for Vernon | 6 |
| Township from 1996 to 1998; and | 7 |
| WHEREAS, Even after retiring and moving to Savannah Lakes | 8 |
| Village in McCormick, South Carolina, both Frank and Verna | 9 |
| remained active in their community working with the Savannah | 10 |
| Lakes Property Owners Association, McCormick County Children's | 11 |
| Home for at risk children, Thurmond Lake Power Squadron, and | 12 |
| Squadron Development; and | 13 |
| WHEREAS, The Claytons have mastered the elements that | 14 |
| encompass a healthy relationship; fifty years of marriage have | 15 |
| not dimmed their love as they remain committed to one another | 16 |
| and their family; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 18 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 19 |
| we recognize the fifty years of love and happiness and the | 20 |
| anniversary that commemorates the marriage of Frank and Verna | 21 |
| and we do hereby offer our congratulations to Frank and Verna | 22 |
| Clayton on such occasion; and be it further
| 23 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 24 |
| presented to the Claytons as an expression of our esteem.
