1 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 245
2     AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 245 by replacing
3 everything after the enacting clause with the following:

4     "Section 5. The Good Samaritan Act is amended by adding
5 Section 72 as follows:

6     (745 ILCS 49/72 new)
7     Sec. 72. Professional engineers, architects, land
8 surveyors, and structural engineers; exemption from civil
9 liability for professional services in response to disasters or
10 catastrophic events. Any professional engineer, architect,
11 land surveyor, or structural engineer who in good faith,
12 without fee, provides professional services in response to a
13 disaster or other catastrophic event shall not be liable for
14 civil damages as a result of his or her acts or omissions in
15 providing the professional services, except for willful and
16 wanton misconduct. This immunity applies to services that are
17 provided without fee during or within 60 days following the end
18 of a disaster or catastrophic event.".
