| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois | 3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of Albert G. Mini, a | 4 |
| well-known Waukegan civic and business leader, on March 28, | 5 |
| 2005; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Mini was born April 6, 1922, in Spring Valley; | 7 |
| he graduated from Highland Park High School, attended managing | 8 |
| courses in industrial engineering for five years at | 9 |
| Northwestern University evening school, and graduated from the | 10 |
| Industrial Management Institute at Lake Forest College; and
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, He was a veteran of World War II, having served | 12 |
| with the Army Air Corps, volunteering for pilot training in | 13 |
| July 1943; he served in the Air Corps until December 1945; on | 14 |
| November 26, 1991, he married Elizabeth Holler in Las Vegas; | 15 |
| and
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, He was the owner and CEO of Illinois Carbide Tool | 17 |
| Co. Inc. in Waukegan and Al Mini Enterprises; he acquired | 18 |
| Illinois Carbide, one of the largest fabricators of carbide | 19 |
| cutting tools in the Midwest, in 1960 after leaving V-R Wesson | 20 |
| Co., where he worked for 22 years; he began at V-R Wesson as a | 21 |
| tool grinder and left as assistant sales manager for | 22 |
| distributor sales;
and
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, He was also the former owner of Midlane Country | 24 |
| Club in Waukegan and the former Karcher Hotel building in | 25 |
| downtown Waukegan; and
| 26 |
| WHEREAS, He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast; he was a | 27 |
| member of the Shriners and the Waukegan City Club; he was | 28 |
| active in the Waukegan Republican Party, the Croation Cultural | 29 |
| Center, and the Glen Flora Country Club; he was a former member | 30 |
| of Waukegan's Elk's Lodge and the American Legion; he was a |

| former member and chairman of the Waukegan Port District Board | 2 |
| and former chairman of the Italian-American Charity Golf Outing | 3 |
| in Milwaukee; and
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and | 5 |
| Julia (nee Corsini) Mini; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Albert G. Mini is felt by all who | 7 |
| knew and loved him, especially his wife, Elizabeth; his sons, | 8 |
| John (Linda) Mini, Michael Mini, and Walter (Caryn) Page; his | 9 |
| daughters, Glenda (Jack) Johnson and Diana (David) Carroll; his | 10 |
| grandchildren, Crystal (Griffith) Costa, Charles Griffith, | 11 |
| Antonio Mini, and Kylie and Ryan Page; and his | 12 |
| great-grandchildren, Page and Leah Costa; therefore, be it
| 13 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL | 14 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 15 |
| Albert G. Mini and extend our sincerest condolences to his | 16 |
| family, friends, and community; and be it further
| 17 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 18 |
| presented to his family as an expression of our deepest | 19 |
| sympathy.
