| SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois | 3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of Mary Louise Taylor, a | 4 |
| lifelong resident of Benton, on April 6, 2005; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Taylor was born August 7, 1914, in Benton, | 6 |
| the daughter of Charles and Rosa (Calcaterra) De Mattei; she | 7 |
| married Vernon Leo Taylor in 1934; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, She worked as a caseworker at the Benton Township | 9 |
| office from 1961 to 1993; and
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, She was recently honored by the Franklin Hospital | 11 |
| Board after 50 years of service as a hospital auxiliary | 12 |
| volunteer by having the helipad at the hospital named in her | 13 |
| honor; and
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Known not only in Benton and Franklin County, she | 15 |
| was recognized throughout the region for her volunteer work | 16 |
| with the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, | 17 |
| the American Cancer Society, the Franklin Hospital Auxiliary, | 18 |
| the Benton American Legion Auxiliary, Benton Teen Town, the | 19 |
| Benton Community Meals Program, and the VFW Auxiliary; she was | 20 |
| a driving force behind construction of Franklin Hospital in | 21 |
| 1960 and then formed the auxiliary that still exists; if it | 22 |
| hadn't been for her efforts, there would not have been a | 23 |
| hospital auxiliary; and
| 24 |
| WHEREAS, A devoted Roman Catholic, her association with St. | 25 |
| Joseph's Catholic Church in Benton spanned many decades; and
| 26 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Taylor will be remembered as a remarkable | 27 |
| woman who lived a remarkable life; she truly cared about and | 28 |
| was interested in helping people; and

| WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents; her | 2 |
| husband; her four sisters, Maria De Mattei, Josephine Erdody, | 3 |
| Rose Gallo, and Caroline De Mattei; and one brother, Angelo De | 4 |
| Mattei; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, She is survived by one son, Charles W. Taylor | 6 |
| (wife Joan); three grandchildren, Gine Tweedy (husband John), | 7 |
| David Taylor (wife Marcie), and Danelle Decker (husband Shane); | 8 |
| five great-grandchildren, Taylor Tweedy, Alexis Tweedy, Leah | 9 |
| Taylor, Matthew Taylor, and Nicole Decker; one brother, Robert | 10 |
| De Mattei (wife Leota); and one brother-in-law, Rudolph Erdody; | 11 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL | 13 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that even as her death is | 14 |
| mourned, we give thanks for the blessing of Mary Louise | 15 |
| Taylor's life and extend our sincerest condolences to her | 16 |
| family, friends, and community; and be it further
| 17 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 18 |
| presented to her family as an expression of our deepest | 19 |
| sympathy.
