| SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois | 3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Gerald Leon Hall, Sr., of | 4 |
| Tunnel Hill on Friday, February 10, 2006; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Hall was born on September 6, 1930, in Marion | 6 |
| to Flossie Pauline (Watson) and Noel Iber Hall; he was a 1950 | 7 |
| graduate of Galatia High School; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, After graduation, Mr. Hall joined the United | 9 |
| States Marine Corps and proudly served during the Korean | 10 |
| conflict as an intelligence analyst; upon his honorable | 11 |
| discharge from the Marine Corps, he spent nine years working at | 12 |
| the EEI steam generating plant at Joppa; and
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, On June 9th, 1956, Mr. Hall married Shirley Joann | 14 |
| Bullock-Smith at Dixon Springs Methodist Church; the couple was | 15 |
| married for nearly fifty years; and
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, In 1963, Mr. Hall joined the startup crew at the | 17 |
| SIPC steam generating plant on Lake of Egypt as an auxiliary | 18 |
| operator; in 1997, he retired from SIPC with thirty-four years | 19 |
| of service as the 'D' shift supervisor; and | 20 |
| WHEREAS, In 1974, the Halls bought Bullock's General Store | 21 |
| in Grantsburg; the couple successfully ran the store until 1981 | 22 |
| when all of their children had left the nest; and | 23 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Hall loved to hunt and fish and did so when he | 24 |
| had time and was able; he was a member of Fountain United | 25 |
| Methodist Church in Marion, his home church, but regularly | 26 |
| attended Taylor United Methodist Church near Vienna; and | 27 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Hall was an AINAD Shriner, Scottish Rite Royal | 28 |
| Arch Mason, and a member of the Grand Order of the Sword of |

| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his | 3 |
| father-in-law, Hillis Bullock; his brother, M. Bruce Hall; and | 4 |
| his son, John E. Smith Jr.; and | 5 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Gerald Leon Hall, Sr. has been | 6 |
| deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Shirley Joann; his | 7 |
| mother-in-law, Mary Helen Bullock; his brothers, Noel Ehud | 8 |
| Hall, Maurice Iber Hall, and Forrest Watson (Glenda) Hall; his | 9 |
| in-laws, Al and Jeanne Branche, Henry and Frances Gerald Hall | 10 |
| Bullock, Sue Jenkins, and Dennis and Patricia Reiter; his son, | 11 |
| Gerald (Gerry) Hall Jr.; his daughters, Susan Joy Padilla and | 12 |
| Jill Ann Hall; his grandchildren, Elisa Joann Hall and John | 13 |
| Paul (Kasey) Hall; his great-grandchildren, Aidan Leon Hall and | 14 |
| Kaidence Rashel Hall; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, | 15 |
| and friends, all of whom he loved dearly; therefore, be it
| 16 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL | 17 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 18 |
| Gerald Leon Hall, Sr., and we extend our sincerest condolences | 19 |
| to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 20 |
| it further
| 21 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 22 |
| presented to his family as an expression of our deepest | 23 |
| sympathy for their loss.
