| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, On Sunday, November 5, 2006, Isabel Graham | 3 |
| Henderson Pedro joined her parents, sister, grandson, and | 4 |
| stepsons in Paradise; and | 5 |
| WHEREAS, Isabel Lula Graham was born in Chicago, Illinois, | 6 |
| on June 3, 1929, the eldest daughter of Frances Porter Graham | 7 |
| and Charles Alexander Graham; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, She graduated from Avondale Grammar School in | 9 |
| 1943, Carl Schurz High School in 1947, and attended Wilson Jr. | 10 |
| College in the late 1940's; In 1952, she married Herbert H. | 11 |
| Henderson; into that marriage was born Natalie, Victoria, and | 12 |
| Michelle; and | 13 |
| WHEREAS,
In 1966, she graduated from Roosevelt University | 14 |
| with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and she earned a Master of | 15 |
| Science in Education from Chicago State University in 1977; and
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, After an early childhood membership in Quinn | 17 |
| Chapel AME, the family joined St. Edmunds Church; she | 18 |
| maintained memberships at Church of the Holy Cross, Mount | 19 |
| Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, was a founding member of | 20 |
| Salem Baptist Church, and Beth Eden Baptist Church; and
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, In the 1950's she worked at University of Illinois | 22 |
| at Navy Pier as a library clerk; while attending Roosevelt | 23 |
| University in the early 1960's, she worked at the Fourth Estate | 24 |
| Restaurant; after graduating from Roosevelt, she completed her | 25 |
| student teaching at Carver Elementary School; for almost 30 | 26 |
| years she served as a primary classroom teacher, then as a | 27 |
| special education teacher at Beethoven Elementary; she retired | 28 |
| from Beethoven in the early 1990's; and
| 29 |
| WHEREAS, Isabel had a lifetime love of music; she was a |

| talented piano player and vocalist; she was a member of various | 2 |
| community and school choirs, including the Bel-Tones and The | 3 |
| Wooten Ensemble; and

| WHEREAS, On April 19, 1995, she married her long-time love | 5 |
| and bridge partner, Donald M. Pedro, M.D.; and | 6 |
| WHEREAS,
Isabel loved to play bridge, and was a member of | 7 |
| many clubs, including the Paragons Duplicate Bridge Club, The | 8 |
| LaBelles Femme Bridge Club, Maple Park Bridge Club, Ada Park | 9 |
| Bridge Club, La Dimanche Point Trieze Bridge Club, The Third | 10 |
| Saturday Bridge Club, and was the beloved First Lady of the | 11 |
| Midwest Bridge Unit of the American Bridge Association; and
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Isabel Graham Henderson Pedro has | 13 |
| been deeply felt by all who knew and loved her; her family | 14 |
| includes her daughters, Natalie Frances Henderson Ray, | 15 |
| Victoria Dallas Henderson Peters, Michelle Louise Henderson | 16 |
| Allison (Charles Henry Allison); her grandchildren, Claudia | 17 |
| Jeanette Ray (Kevin D. Walker, Sr.), Kenneth Ernest Henderson | 18 |
| (Tawanna Kyle), Charles Antuan Peters (deceased), David Jerome | 19 |
| Bryant, and Steven Marcus Johnson; her great-grandsons, Keyon | 20 |
| Kyle, Charles Kenneth Harris, De'Angelo Venson, Ta'Joun Kyle, | 21 |
| Kevin D. Walker, Jr., Vincent Carter, and David Carter; her | 22 |
| honorary children, Anthony Pedro, Donald M. Pedro, Jr., Sharon | 23 |
| A. Pedro-Dudley, Bruce M. Pedro, Ishida M. Pedro-Robinson | 24 |
| (Jim), James H. Brooks (deceased), Patrice A. Pedro, Riccardo | 25 |
| Christopher Pedro (deceased), Garnett D. Pedro, Valerie L. | 26 |
| Pedro, Laura J. Pedro, and Donna M. Pedro; and her nephew, Ivan | 27 |
| Charles Collins; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL | 29 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 30 |
| her family and friends, the passing of Isabel Graham Henderson | 31 |
| Pedro; and be it further
