| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois | 3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Dorothy Elizabeth Morrison | 4 |
| of Chicago, on Monday, October 23, 2006; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, She was born on April 13, 1928 in Chicago to Ralph | 6 |
| Caldwell Elliott, Sr. and Lucy (Allen) Elliott; she graduated | 7 |
| from Englewood High School and attended Loyola University; at | 8 |
| the age of 18, she married Harold Leroy Morrison who preceded | 9 |
| her in death; and
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, She began working for the Chicago Housing | 11 |
| Authority as a switchboard operator, eventually serving as | 12 |
| Senior Housing Manager with the Chicago Housing Authority's | 13 |
| Robert Taylor Homes, Altgeld Gardens, ABLA Homes, Ida B. Wells | 14 |
| Apartments, and several CHA senior citizen buildings; she was | 15 |
| awarded numerous plaques and awards from the residents and | 16 |
| management of the Chicago Housing Authority; she retired from | 17 |
| there after 25 years of service; and

| WHEREAS, She began her retirement by beginning a career in | 19 |
| community service; she joined the volunteer corp of the DuSable | 20 |
| Museum of African American History and later the Museum's | 21 |
| Women's Board; she also volunteered as a parent coordinator for | 22 |
| the Principal Scholars Program at the University of Illinois at | 23 |
| Chicago and for Operation Breadbasket, the Southern Christian | 24 |
| Leadership Conference, Rainbow PUSH, and PUSH Excel; she | 25 |
| started her own company in 1990 titled "Events by Morrison", | 26 |
| with clients including the Reverend Johnnie Coleman of Christ | 27 |
| Universal Temple, the Illinois Cook County Board of | 28 |
| Commissioners, Chicago Lyric Opera, Central City Productions, | 29 |
| the Alliance of Business Leaders and Entrepreneurs, the Magic | 30 |
| Johnson Foundation, and the National Basketball Association; | 31 |
| she helped plan and coordinate for such notable events as the | 32 |
| Bud Billiken Parade and the Gospel Stellar Awards Program; and

| WHEREAS, She was an avid bridge player and a member of the | 2 |
| same bridge club for the last ten years; she enjoyed traveling | 3 |
| and had visited Spain, London, Tahiti, Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra | 4 |
| Leone, and Alaska; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Dorothy Elizabeth Morrison has been | 6 |
| deeply felt by many, especially her son, Harold, and his wife, | 7 |
| Vivian; her grandchildren, Kwame, Maya Morrison (Tino Sadder) | 8 |
| Sadder, Ronald Jr., Antoine, and Ayesha Morrison; her | 9 |
| great-grandson, Justin Sadder; her son, Ronald; her brother, | 10 |
| Ralph (Dolores) Elliott; her aunt, Dorothy Wilson; and a host | 11 |
| of cousins, friends, and neighbors; therefore, be it
| 12 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL | 13 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 14 |
| Dorothy Elizabeth Morrison, and we extend our sincere | 15 |
| condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 16 |
| her; and be it further
| 17 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 18 |
| presented to her family as an expression of our deepest | 19 |
| sympathy.
