|
Amends the Department of Professional Regulation Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Requires the Secretary of Financial and Professional Regulation to appoint within the Division of Professional Regulation a Condo Oversight Officer to (i) receive complaints from condominium owners and create and maintain an electronic database of those complaints, accessible and searchable by the public, (ii) receive and investigate complaints from condominium boards, and (iii) report annually to the General Assembly, Governor, and Attorney General on recommendations for changes in condominium law. Effective immediately.

| AN ACT concerning State government.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Department of Professional Regulation Law of |
5 |
| the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by adding |
6 |
| Section 2105-250 as follows: |
7 |
| (20 ILCS 2105/2105-250 new) |

| Sec. 2105-250. Condo Oversight Officer. Subject to |
9 |
| appropriation, the Secretary shall appoint within the Division |
10 |
| of Professional Regulation a Condo Oversight Officer whose |
11 |
| duties shall include: |
12 |
| (1) Receipt of complaints concerning condominiums in |
13 |
| Illinois from condominium owners. |
14 |
| (2) Creation, maintenance, and oversight of an |
15 |
| electronic database of those complaints, accessible and |
16 |
| searchable by the public beginning January 1, 2008. |
17 |
| (3) Receipt and investigation of complaints by |
18 |
| condominium association governing boards. |
19 |
| (4) Taking the necessary steps to publicize the |
20 |
| availability of the Condo Oversight Officer and the |
21 |
| database.

| (5) Reporting to the General Assembly, Governor, and |
23 |
| Attorney General on January 1, 2009 and annually thereafter |
