| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
Barbara | 4 |
| Jones Green of Chicago; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Barbara Jones Green earned her Bachelor of Science | 6 |
| degree in business administration from Tennessee State | 7 |
| University in 1965; she earned her Master of Science degree in | 8 |
| Social Work from Spertus College in 1999; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Barbara Jones Green served with distinction as the | 10 |
| Executive Director of the Lakeside Community Committee, a | 11 |
| multi-faceted, nationally accredited child welfare, youth | 12 |
| delinquency prevention, and family stabilization agency which | 13 |
| provides a variety of services to at-risk teens and needy | 14 |
| adults of all ages in the Greater Grand Boulevard and other | 15 |
| Southside communities of Chicago; and
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Barbara Jones Green was the founder and | 17 |
| President/CEO of Jonette Products Enterprise, Ltd., a diverse | 18 |
| concession management and management systems corporation that | 19 |
| has provided its services for many local and State | 20 |
| organizations; and
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, Barbara Jones Green was the founder of the Golfing |

| Friends of Chicago, a charitable organization that has provided | 2 |
| over $400,000 in educational scholarships to needy students | 3 |
| throughout the Chicago area in a single year; she was also | 4 |
| involved with such worthy causes as United Way, AfriCare, | 5 |
| Vision of Freedom, Southern University, Xavier University, and | 6 |
| Haven House; and | 7 |
| WHEREAS, Barbara Jones Green was an active member in her | 8 |
| community; she served as the chairperson of the Mayor's Blue | 9 |
| Ribbon Committee for Historic Preservation of Bronzeville; she | 10 |
| served on the Board of Directors of the Halfway House for Girls | 11 |
| of Crestwood, Illinois; she served as Vice Chairman of the | 12 |
| Chicago Board of Appeals from 1983 until 1990; she was also | 13 |
| involved in the Illinois Public Aid Advisory Council, The | 14 |
| Links, Incorporated, the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, The Moles, | 15 |
| Incorporated, and The Carousels, Incorporated; and | 16 |
| WHEREAS, Barbara Jones Green was the recipient of many | 17 |
| awards in honor of her civic accomplishments, including a 2005 | 18 |
| T.W.O. Business Leader Award, a 2005 Phenomenal Woman Award, a | 19 |
| 2003 HANS Foundation Award, a 1998 Cook County Women's | 20 |
| Commission Unsung Heroine Award, a nomination for a 1992 | 21 |
| Dollars and Sense Magazine's America's Best and Brightest | 22 |
| Award, a 1992 Illinois DCFS Clara Muhammad Foundation Award, a | 23 |
| Chicago Housing Authority Central Advisory Council's | 24 |
| Meritorious Service Award in 1992, a Woodson North and South |

| Schools Partnership with Youth Outstanding Leadership Award in | 2 |
| 1992, a Beasley Academic Center's Commitment to Education Award | 3 |
| in 1991, and a National Council of Negro Women Lena Walker | 4 |
| Outstanding Businessman's Award in 1984; and | 5 |
| WHEREAS, Barbara Jones Green's love of life and ability to | 6 |
| live it to the fullest endeared her to her family members, | 7 |
| friends, and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their | 8 |
| lives in ways they will never forget; therefore, be it
| 9 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 10 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 11 |
| mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of | 12 |
| Barbara Jones Green; and be it further
| 13 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 |
| presented to the family of Barbara Jones Green as an expression | 15 |
| of our sympathy.
