HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate the players and
4 coaches the Lady Norsemen Girls' Basketball Team of Newark
5 Community High School on the occasion of an outstanding season;
6 and
 
7     WHEREAS, The Newark Lady Norsemen ended the season with a
8 26-8 overall record after a narrow overtime 62-60 loss to
9 Flanagan-Woodland in the Class 1A State Championship; the Lady
10 Norsemen reached the championship game with a 49-48 overtime
11 win against Central A&M; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Following the State championship game, the Newark
13 Lady Norsemen brought home the first State trophy in any sport
14 in the school's history, a historical achievement for the
15 girls' basketball program; and
 
16     WHEREAS, The Newark Lady Norsemen players are Lauren
17 McNanna, Sami Eddy, Sammi Larson, Sam Akre, Caytee Becker,
18 Katie Larson, Laura Johnson, Tara Bernard, Miranda Schmidt,
19 Niki Dowling, Krista Skelton, Kelli Laron, Courtney Anderson,
20 Ann Peterson, Amanda Huggins, Lauren Hoskins, and Kirstie
21 Anderson; the team's head coach is Dale Skelton and the
22 assistant coach is Nick Willhoit; and

1     WHEREAS, The young women of the Lady Norsemen Girls'
2 Basketball Team are models of dedication and sportsmanship for
3 the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it
 
4     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6 congratulate the players and coaches the Lady Norsemen Girls'
7 Basketball Team of Newark Community High School on the occasion
8 of an outstanding season and wish them success and happiness in
9 the future; and be it further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to Lady Norsemen head coach Dale Skelton as a symbol
12 of our esteem and respect.
