HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor Charlotte Mae (Stein)
4 Schmidt of Plano on her 80th birthday, September 30, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She was born in Plano, the daughter of William and
6 Elizabeth Stein; she married Crosby Alan Schmidt on July 24,
7 1958; and
 
8     WHEREAS, She was the co-owner of Schmidt's Grocery Store in
9 Big Rock and the co-owner of Coast to Coast Hardware Store in
10 Plano for 27 years; she is currently the co-owner and manager
11 of Plano Plaza in Plano; and
 
12     WHEREAS, She was the first woman Rotarian in District 444,
13 the first woman president in the District, and a Paul Harris
14 Fellow in the Plano Rotary; she is a Past President of the
15 Plano Chamber of Commerce; and she is a Past Secretary of Plano
16 American Legion Auxiliary; and
 
17     WHEREAS, She is a Past Board Member of Kendall County
18 Foundation and the Fox Valley South Family YMCA; she is a Past
19 President of the Plano Police Pension Board and has been active
20 in several other civic organizations; and she is a longtime
21 supporter of State Representative Tom Cross; and

1     WHEREAS, She is an avid Duplicate Bridge player and a
2 Bronze Life Master; and she enjoys her family, gardening, and
3 traveling; and
 
4     WHEREAS, She is the loving mother of Brad (Eva) Gardner,
5 Kathe (Dan) Clodfelter, and Shelley (Greg) Johnson; she is the
6 proud grandmother of Elizabeth Clodfelter; and she is the
7 loving sibling of Jerry Stein and Stephanie Englehart;
8 therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
11 congratulate Charlotte Mae Schmidt on this momentous occasion
12 and wish her health and happiness in the years to come; and be
13 it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to Charlotte Mae Schmidt as a symbol of our respect
16 and esteem.
