AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 264

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 264 on page 16, line 23, after "Freestanding Birth Centers", by inserting "and consistent with standards of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists"; and

on page 17, lines 13 and 14, by replacing "30 minutes travel time" with "a ground travel time distance"; and

on page 17, line 16, after the comma, by inserting "that allows for an emergency caesarean delivery to be started within 30 minutes of the decision a caesarean delivery is necessary,"; and

on page 17, by replacing lines 24 through 26 with "The services of a physician licensed to practice medicine in all its branches medical director who is certified or eligible for certification by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists or the American Board of"; and

on page 18, by replacing lines 3 through 9 with "centers. The medical director shall be on the premises regularly every day, and shall be available by phone when not present. The medical director shall establish policies defining the criteria to determine which pregnancies are accepted as normal, uncomplicated, and low-risk. The medical director shall determine the anesthesia services available at the center. No general anesthesia and no surgery may be performed at the center."; and

on page 18, line 20, by replacing "second staff person" with "nurse"; and

on page 19, by replacing lines 20 through 21 with "developed by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.".
