To the Honorable Members of the

Illinois Senate

95th General Assembly

 

Pursuant to Article IV, Section 9(b) of the Illinois Constitution of 1970, I hereby veto Senate Bill 540, entitled “AN ACT concerning vehicles.”  Safety is a top priority for Illinois’ roads, and this bill compromises safety by allowing trucks to travel at higher speeds. I remain opposed to increasing the speed limit to 65 miles per hour for large trucks.

 

            For this reason, I hereby veto and return Senate Bill 540.
