| SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of Violet Vivian Wetzel of Edwardsville, who | 4 |
| passed away on October 14, 2007; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Violet Vivian Wetzel was born on May 4, 1918, in | 6 |
| Mount Olive; she married Arthur Leonard Wetzel on January 27, | 7 |
| 1937, and together they lovingly raised four sons; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Wetzel was a dedicated employee of | 9 |
| Edwardsville Community School District 7 until her retirement; | 10 |
| in her earlier years she was a dedicated and supportive Cub and | 11 |
| Boy Scout leader for her active sons and was recognized by the | 12 |
| Boy Scouts of America for her outstanding leadership; and
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Activities and affiliations closest to her heart | 14 |
| included her faithful membership at Eden United Church of | 15 |
| Christ in Edwardsville, fellowship with her dear friends in | 16 |
| Eden's Circle 3, and her many years of dedicated volunteer | 17 |
| service to Eden Village and to Hitz Home in Alhambra; it was | 18 |
| her pleasure and mission to be a careful shopper for the small | 19 |
| Eden Villager Apartments' grocery store; she always stocked the | 20 |
| store with special requests from the residents and made sure | 21 |
| that she purchased replenishing supplies at the very best | 22 |
| price; apartment residents were always grateful for the special |

| attention that she provided in their behalf; and
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Violet Wetzel was preceded in death by her dearly | 3 |
| loved husband, Arthur Wetzel; an infant son in 1947, Ronald; | 4 |
| her mother, Anna Scheibe Heidelberg; and her father, Jule | 5 |
| Scheibe; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Violet Wetzel is survived by her sons, Robert | 7 |
| (Carol) Wetzel, Thomas (Alice) Wetzel, Carl (Donna) Wetzel, and | 8 |
| David (Jessica) Wetzel; her eight grandchildren: her | 9 |
| granddaughter, Andrea Wetzel Darbon, her husband Russell and | 10 |
| their two children, Madison Olivia and Lee; her grandson, Scott | 11 |
| Wetzel, his wife Kristi, and their son Corbin Reid; her | 12 |
| grandson, Stephen Wetzel; her grandson, Brian Wetzel, his wife | 13 |
| Sara, and their four children, Benjamin, Emily, Elizabeth, and | 14 |
| Carlos; her granddaughter, Kim Wetzel Knoechel, her husband | 15 |
| George, and their three children Samuel, Grace, and Audrey; her | 16 |
| granddaughter, Jill Wetzel Rice, her husband Russell, and their | 17 |
| four children, Joshua, Caleb, Joseph, and Margaret; her | 18 |
| grandson, Dennis Wetzel; and her grandson, Jacob Wetzel and his | 19 |
| son, Gabriel; therefore, be it
| 20 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL | 21 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 22 |
| her family and friends, the passing of Violet Wetzel; and be it | 23 |
| further
