215 ILCS 5/143.19c new










    Amends the Illinois Insurance Code. Provides that no policy of automobile insurance may be cancelled where the basis for such cancellation is the insured's lack of a valid drivers license or valid instruction permit if the insurer failed to ask the insured for proof of a valid drivers license or valid instruction permit at the time the insured applied for coverage.

    AN ACT concerning insurance.

    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended  by adding 
5
Section 143.19c as follows:

    (215 ILCS 5/143.19c  new)
7
    Sec. 143.19c. Cancellation; valid drivers license. No 
8
policy of insurance as defined in subsection (a) of Section 
9
143.13 of this Act may be cancelled where the basis for such 
10
cancellation is the insured's lack of a valid drivers license 
11
or valid instruction permit if the insurer failed to ask the 
12
insured for proof of a valid drivers license or valid 
13
instruction permit at the time the insured applied for 
14
coverage.
