| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. Terry Hatch on | 4 |
| the occasion of his retirement on December 31, 2008; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Terry Hatch served the citizens of Urbana as a | 6 |
| pediatric gastroenterologist at Carle Clinic from 1973 to 2008, | 7 |
| where he gained a sterling reputation for his compassion and | 8 |
| devotion for his patients; he also served as Chairman of the | 9 |
| Department of Pediatrics at the Carle Clinic Association and | 10 |
| Carle Foundation Hospital from 1998 to 2008; and
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Terry Hatch has been an active member of the | 12 |
| American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP); he has served on the | 13 |
| AAP's Committee on Nutrition, 1990 Recertification Examination | 14 |
| Prep Task Force, Nutritional Technical Panel, Course Task Force | 15 |
| for Pediatrics in Review, Executive Committee of the Section on | 16 |
| Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, Course Committee of | 17 |
| PREP, Chair Section on Gastroenterology, Appeals Committee, | 18 |
| and Committee on Development; he served as a consultant | 19 |
| representing AAP at the Residency Review Committee Regarding | 20 |
| Accreditation Issues for Pediatric Gastroenterology and | 21 |
| Nutrition Programs; he also served as Nutrition Editor at AAP's | 22 |
| Healthy Kids Magazine; and

| WHEREAS, Dr. Terry Hatch has been active in AAP's Illinois | 2 |
| chapter as well; he served as President of the Illinois | 3 |
| Downstate Pediatric Society from 1984 to 1985; he served on the | 4 |
| Academy's Executive Committee from 1983 to 1984 and served as | 5 |
| Treasurer from 1988 to 1989; he served as President of the | 6 |
| Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics from | 7 |
| 1994 to 1996; he was also named Physician of the Year by the | 8 |
| AAP's Illinois chapter; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Terry Hatch has served as an Associate | 10 |
| Clinical Professor of both Pediatrics and Pediatric Nutrition | 11 |
| with the Division of Nutritional Sciences at the University of | 12 |
| Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he has served on various | 13 |
| faculty committees and thesis committees, taught in various | 14 |
| courses, and participated in and provided medical oversight in | 15 |
| nutrition research; he also served as Clinical Education Center | 16 |
| Director and as Curriculum Leader/Co-leader of the University | 17 |
| of Illinois College of Medicine and is a member of the Graduate | 18 |
| College at the University of Illinois; and
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Terry Hatch has served as a member and Chair | 20 |
| of the Illinois State Medical Society's CME Accreditation | 21 |
| Committee; he has served on the ISMS Committee on Workforce | 22 |
| Issues; he is also active with the American Heart Association's | 23 |
| Pediatric Advanced Life Support Regional Faculty; and

| WHEREAS, Dr. Terry Hatch is the author of 31 peer-reviewed | 2 |
| publications and book chapters; he has also reviewed various | 3 |
| journals, including the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology, | 4 |
| Hepatology and Nutrition; and | 5 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Terry Hatch is married to DiAnne Westermann | 6 |
| Hatch; together, they have three sons; and
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Terry Hatch serves as a model of hard work, | 8 |
| integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of | 9 |
| Illinois; therefore, be it
| 10 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 11 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 12 |
| congratulate Dr. Terry Hatch on the occasion of his retirement | 13 |
| and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it | 14 |
| further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 16 |
| presented to Dr. Terry Hatch as a symbol of our esteem and | 17 |
| respect.
