| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Betty | 4 |
| Canaday of Springfield, who passed away on May 5, 2009; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, She was born the daughter of James and Lucille | 6 |
| Fernandez Foster on November 15, 1923, in Springfield; she | 7 |
| married Melvin H. Canaday in Springfield on November 21, 1941; | 8 |
| and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, She attended Feitshans High School; she was first | 10 |
| employed at S.S. Kresege as a clerk, then at Taft Restaurant as | 11 |
| a waitress, and then at Denney's Restaurant as a hostess before | 12 |
| becoming a homemaker; and
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, She was an avid bingo player and was a member of a | 14 |
| bunco club for 30 plus years; she was of the Protestant Faith; | 15 |
| and
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; | 17 |
| and by her parents; and
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Betty Canaday is survived by two daughters, Sandra | 19 |
| England and Linda (husband, Frank) Sklenka; her sister, Ruth | 20 |
| Campbell; her grandchildren, Chas. Brent England, Cindy |

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 8 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 9 |
| mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Betty | 10 |
| Canaday; and be it further
| 11 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 |
| presented to the family of Betty Canaday as a symbol of our | 13 |
| sincere sympathy.
