HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Lenn Grant,
4 Assistant Fire Chief with the Village of Barrington Fire
5 Department, on his retirement; and
 
6     WHEREAS, He has served with the Village of Barrington Fire
7 Department since 1985; he has been a paramedic since 1974 and
8 was promoted to Lieutenant in 1997; on January 1, 2009, he was
9 named Assistant Fire Chief; and
 
10     WHEREAS, While working for the fire department he has
11 personally performed fire inspections on buildings in the
12 village and in the Pepper Industrial Park; he was selected to
13 the Lake County Hazardous Materials Team; and he initiated a
14 training program that placed on-duty firefighters in the
15 buildings that they protect; and
 
16     WHEREAS, In addition, he was appointed to manage the Grid
17 Sign Project, a program that was designed to give homes in Lake
18 Barrington and Barrington Hills "fire grid signs", allowing
19 local fire departments an easier way to locate homes in the
20 district; and
 
21     WHEREAS, He developed a program for teenage drivers that

1 teaches the consequences of driving while under the influence;
2 he also planned and organized the first pre-prom program for
3 Barrington High School; and
 
4     WHEREAS, He was one of the first CPR instructors for
5 Barrington and helped teach CPR to the community; and
 
6     WHEREAS, He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire
7 Science Management from Southern Illinois University and the
8 Chicago Fire Academy and a Bachelor of Science in Business and
9 Economics from the University of Northern Colorado; therefore,
10 be it
 
11     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
13 congratulate Lenn Grant on his retirement and thank him for his
14 many years of service and dedication to the lives of others;
15 and be it further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to Lenn Grant as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
