AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1897

2     AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1897 by replacing
3 everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4     "Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5 Sections 1-168.8 and 11-1427.5 and changing Section 1-101.8 as
6 follows:
 
7     (625 ILCS 5/1-101.8)  (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 1-102.02)
8     Sec. 1-101.8. All-terrain vehicle. Any motorized
9 off-highway device designed to travel primarily off-highway,
10 50 inches or less in width, having a manufacturer's dry weight
11 of 1,500 900 pounds or less, traveling on 3 or more non-highway
12 low-pressure tires, designed with a seat or saddle for operator
13 use, and handlebars or steering wheel for steering control,
14 except equipment such as lawnmowers.

2     Sec. 1-168.8. Recreational off-highway vehicle. Any
3 motorized off-highway device designed to travel primarily
4 off-highway, 64 inches or less in width, having a
5 manufacturer's dry weight of 2,000 pounds or less, traveling on
6 4 or more non-highway tires, designed with a non-straddle seat
7 and a steering wheel for steering control, except equipment
8 such as lawnmowers.
 
9     (625 ILCS 5/11-1427.5 new)
10     Sec. 11-1427.5. Recreational off-highway vehicles. All
11 provisions of this Code that apply to an all-terrain vehicle
12 shall apply the same to a recreational off-highway vehicle.
 
13     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
14 becoming law.".
