    Amends the Election Code. Requires election authorities to conduct grace period registration, grace period voting, and early voting on public university, college, and community college campuses within their jurisdictions. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning elections.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Election Code is amended by adding Sections
5 4-55, 5-55, and 6-110 as follows:
 
6     (10 ILCS 5/4-55 new)
7     Sec. 4-55. Registration and voting on campus. In addition
8 to all other locations at which the election authority is
9 required or permitted by this Code to conduct grace period
10 registration, grace period voting, or early voting, each
11 election authority shall conduct grace period registration,
12 grace period voting, and early voting at a central location on
13 any portion within the election authority's jurisdiction of
14 each campus of the public universities, public colleges, and
15 public community colleges of this State. The registration
16 conducted under this Section shall be available to any
17 qualified resident of this State, including students, staff
18 members, and faculty members of the host campus. The voting
19 conducted under this Section shall be available to any
20 qualified voter of the election jurisdiction, including
21 students, staff members, and faculty members of the host
22 campus, notwithstanding any provision of Section 19A-10
23 permitting an election authority to designate the use of

1 specified early voting polling places.
2     The registration and voting required by this Section to be
3 conducted on campus must be conducted as otherwise required by
4 this Code, except that the election authority is not required
5 to conduct registration or voting under this Section at times
6 other than the regular business hours of the host campus.
7     Each public university, public college, and public
8 community college in this State shall make the space available
9 for, and cooperate and coordinate with the appropriate election
10 authority in, the implementation of this Section.

18 becoming law.
