AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 3222

2     AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 3222 by replacing
3 everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4     "Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by
5 changing Section 25 as follows:
 
6     (110 ILCS 305/25)
7     Sec. 25. Limitation on tuition increase. This Section
8 applies only to those students who first enroll after the
9 2003-2004 academic year. For 5 4 continuous academic years
10 following initial enrollment (or for undergraduate programs
11 that require more than 5 4 years to complete, for the normal
12 time to complete the program, as determined by the University),
13 the tuition charged an undergraduate student who is an Illinois
14 resident shall not exceed the amount that the student was
15 charged at the time he or she first enrolled in the University.
16 However, if the student changes majors during this time period,

1 the tuition charged the student shall equal the amount the
2 student would have been charged had he or she been admitted to
3 the changed major when he or she first enrolled.

5     Section 10. The Southern Illinois University Management
6 Act is amended by changing Section 15 as follows:
 
7     (110 ILCS 520/15)
8     Sec. 15. Limitation on tuition increase. This Section
9 applies only to those students who first enroll after the
10 2003-2004 academic year. For 5 4 continuous academic years
11 following initial enrollment (or for undergraduate programs
12 that require more than 5 4 years to complete, for the normal
13 time to complete the program, as determined by the University),
14 the tuition charged an undergraduate student who is an Illinois
15 resident shall not exceed the amount that the student was
16 charged at the time he or she first enrolled in the University.
17 However, if the student changes majors during this time period,
18 the tuition charged the student shall equal the amount the

11     Sec. 35-125. Limitation on tuition increase. This Section
12 applies only to those students who first enroll after the
13 2003-2004 academic year. The tuition charged an undergraduate
14 student who is an Illinois resident shall not exceed the amount
15 that the student was charged at the time he or she first
16 enrolled at the University as an Illinois resident if that
17 student first enrolled not more than 4 3 and one-half academic
18 years before. However, if the student changes majors during
19 this time period, the tuition charged the student shall equal
20 the amount the student would have been charged had he or she
21 been admitted to the changed major when he or she first
22 enrolled.

1     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1,
2 2010.".
