| 4 | | "Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section | 5 | | 14-6.02 as follows:

| 7 | | Sec. 14-6.02. Service animals. Service animals such as | 8 | | guide dogs,
signal dogs or any other animal individually | 9 | | trained to perform tasks for
the benefit of a student with a | 10 | | disability shall be permitted to accompany
that student at all | 11 | | school functions, whether in or outside the classroom. For the | 12 | | purposes of this Section, "service animal" has the same meaning | 13 | | as in Section 1 of the Service Animal Access Act.

When a blind, hearing impaired or physically | 11 | | handicapped
person with a physical, mental, or intellectual | 12 | | disability requiring the use of a service animal or a person | 13 | | who is subject to epilepsy or other seizure disorders is
| 14 | | accompanied by a service animal a dog which serves as a guide, | 15 | | leader, seizure-alert, or
seizure-response dog for such person | 16 | | or when a trainer of a service animal guide, leader,
| 17 | | seizure-alert, or seizure-response dog is accompanied by a | 18 | | service animal guide, leader,
seizure-alert, or | 19 | | seizure-response dog or a dog that is being trained to be a
| 20 | | guide, leader, seizure-alert, or seizure-response dog , neither | 21 | | the person nor
the service animal dog shall be denied the right | 22 | | of entry and use of facilities of any public
place of | 23 | | accommodation as defined in Section 5-101 of the " Illinois |

Rights Act ", if such dog is wearing a harness and such | 2 | | person presents
credentials for inspection issued by a school | 3 | | for training guide, leader,
seizure-alert, or seizure-response | 4 | | dogs .
| 5 | | For the purposes of this Section, "service animal" means a | 6 | | dog or miniature horse trained or being trained as a hearing | 7 | | animal, a guide animal, an assistance animal, a seizure alert | 8 | | animal, a mobility animal, a psychiatric service animal, an | 9 | | autism service animal, or an animal trained for any other | 10 | | physical, mental, or intellectual disability. "Service animal" | 11 | | includes a miniature horse that a public
place of accommodation | 12 | | shall make reasonable accommodation so long as the public
place | 13 | | of accommodation takes into consideration: (1) the type, size | 14 | | and weight of the miniature horse and whether the facility can | 15 | | accommodate its features; (2) whether the handler has | 16 | | sufficient control of the miniature horse; (3) whether the | 17 | | miniature horse is housebroken; and (4) whether the miniature | 18 | | horse's presence in the facility compromises legitimate safety | 19 | | requirements necessary for operation. | 20 | | Any violation of this Act is a Class C misdemeanor.
