AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 5234

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 5234 as follows:
 
3on page 1, line 5, by replacing "Sections 2, 4," with "Sections
42, 3, 4,"; and
 
5on page 3, immediately below line 1, by inserting the
6following:
 
7    "(20 ILCS 3410/3)  (from Ch. 127, par. 133d3)
8    Sec. 3. There is recognized and established hereunder the
9Illinois Historic Sites Advisory Council, previously
10established pursuant to Federal regulations, hereafter called
11the Council. The Council shall consist of 15 members. Of these,
12there shall be at least 3 historians, at least 3 architectural
13historians, or architects with a preservation background, and
14at least 3 archeologists. The remaining 6 members shall be
15drawn from supporting fields and have a preservation interest.

1Supporting fields shall include but not be limited to
2historical geography, law, urban planning, local government
3officials, and members of other preservation commissions. All
4shall be appointed by the Director of Historic Sites and
5Preservation, with the consent of the Board.
6    The Council Chairperson shall be appointed by the Director
7of Historic Sites and Preservation from the Council membership
8and shall serve at the Director's pleasure.
9    The Director of the Lincoln Presidential Library and the
10Director of the Illinois State Museum shall serve on the
11Council in advisory capacity as non-voting members.
12    Terms of membership shall be 3 years and shall be staggered
13by the Director to assure continuity of representation.
14    The Council shall meet at least 3 4 times each year.
15Additional meetings may be held at the call of the chairperson
16or at the call of the Director.
17    Members shall serve without compensation, but shall be
18reimbursed for actual expenses incurred in the performance of
19their duties.

23    "Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
24becoming law.".
