| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
| 4 | | Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by | 5 | | changing Section 7f as follows:
| 6 | | (110 ILCS 305/7f) (from Ch. 144, par. 28f)
| 7 | | Sec. 7f. Partial tuition waivers.
| 8 | | (a) As used in this Section : , | 9 | | "Employee" means an employee of an Illinois college or | 10 | | university (i) who is a veteran at the time a waiver under this | 11 | | Section is granted, (ii) who is the parent of a veteran who is | 12 | | applying for a waiver under this Section, or (iii) whose annual | 13 | | household income is $50,000 or less at the time a waiver under | 14 | | this Section is granted. | 15 | | "Illinois college or university" means any
of the | 16 | | following: the University of Illinois, Southern Illinois | 17 | | University,
Chicago State University, Eastern Illinois | 18 | | University, Governors State
University, Illinois State | 19 | | University, Northeastern Illinois University,
Northern | 20 | | Illinois University, and Western Illinois University.
| 21 | | "Veteran" means an Illinois resident who has served as a | 22 | | member of the United States Armed Forces on active duty or | 23 | | State active duty, a member of the Illinois National Guard, or |

| 1 | | a member of the United States Reserve Forces and who has | 2 | | received an honorable discharge. | 3 | | (b) Each year the Board of Trustees of the University of
| 4 | | Illinois shall offer 50% tuition waivers for undergraduate | 5 | | education at any
campus under its governance or supervision to | 6 | | the children of employees of
an Illinois college or university | 7 | | who have been employed
by any one or by more than one Illinois | 8 | | college or university for an aggregate
period of at least 7
| 9 | | years. To be eligible to receive a partial tuition waiver, the | 10 | | child of an
employee of an Illinois college or university (i) | 11 | | must
be under the age of 25 at the
commencement of the academic | 12 | | year during which the partial tuition waiver
is to be | 13 | | effective, and (ii) must qualify for admission to the | 14 | | University of
Illinois
under the same admissions requirements, | 15 | | standards and policies which the
University of Illinois applies | 16 | | to applicants for admission generally to its
respective
| 17 | | undergraduate colleges and programs.
| 18 | | (c) Subject to the provisions and limitations of subsection
| 19 | | (b), an
eligible applicant who has continued to maintain | 20 | | satisfactory academic
progress toward graduation may have his | 21 | | or her partial tuition waiver
renewed until the time as he or | 22 | | she has expended 4 years of undergraduate
partial tuition | 23 | | waiver benefits under this Section.
| 24 | | (d) No partial tuition waiver offered or allocated to any
| 25 | | eligible
applicant in accordance with the provisions of this | 26 | | Section shall be
charged against any tuition waiver limitation |

as
are necessary to implement and administer the | 4 | | provisions of this Section.

| 17 | | (a) As used in this Section : , | 18 | | "Employee" means an employee of an Illinois college or | 19 | | university (i) who is a veteran at the time a waiver under this | 20 | | Section is granted, (ii) who is the parent of a veteran who is | 21 | | applying for a waiver under this Section, or (iii) whose annual | 22 | | household income is $50,000 or less at the time a waiver under | 23 | | this Section is granted. | 24 | | "Illinois college or university" means any

Chicago State University, Eastern Illinois | 3 | | University, Governors State

Northern | 5 | | Illinois University, and Western Illinois University.
| 6 | | "Veteran" means an Illinois resident who has served as a | 7 | | member of the United States Armed Forces on active duty or | 8 | | State active duty, a member of the Illinois National Guard, or | 9 | | a member of the United States Reserve Forces and who has | 10 | | received an honorable discharge. | 11 | | (b) Each year the Board of Western Illinois
University | 12 | | shall offer 50% tuition waivers for undergraduate education at | 13 | | any
campus under its governance to the children of employees of
| 14 | | an Illinois college or university who have been employed
by any | 15 | | one or by more than one Illinois college or university for an | 16 | | aggregate period of at least 7
years. To be eligible to receive | 17 | | a partial tuition waiver, the child of an
employee of an | 18 | | Illinois college or university (i) must
be under the age of 25 | 19 | | at the
commencement of the academic year during which the | 20 | | partial tuition waiver
is to be effective, and (ii) must | 21 | | qualify for admission to Western Illinois University
under the | 22 | | same admissions requirements, standards and policies which | 23 | | Western
Illinois University applies to applicants for | 24 | | admission generally to
its respective
undergraduate colleges | 25 | | and programs.
| 26 | | (c) Subject to the provisions and limitations of subsection

| 1 | | (b), an
eligible applicant who has continued to maintain | 2 | | satisfactory academic
progress toward graduation may have his | 3 | | or her partial tuition waiver
renewed until the time as he or | 4 | | she has expended 4 years of undergraduate
partial tuition | 5 | | waiver benefits under this Section.
| 6 | | (d) No partial tuition waiver offered or allocated to any
| 7 | | eligible
applicant in accordance with the provisions of this | 8 | | Section shall be
charged against any tuition waiver limitation | 9 | | established by the Illinois
Board of Higher Education.
| 10 | | (e) The Board shall prescribe rules and regulations as
are | 11 | | necessary to implement and administer the provisions of this | 12 | | Section.
