| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
Marilyn | 4 | | King, who passed away on January 16, 2011; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn King was born on March 12, 1958, in | 6 | | Bastrop, Louisiana to Ruth Wheeler Mangum; after meeting Dr. | 7 | | Carl E. King, Sr. on September 30, 1977, the couple was married | 8 | | one year later; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn King attended Morehouse Elementary and | 10 | | Bastrop Middle School; she subsequently moved to Chicago and | 11 | | attended Chicago Vocational School, where she graduated in the | 12 | | top 10 of her class; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn King was employed at the Chicago Board of | 14 | | Education in the math department; she also worked as a grant | 15 | | writer at Loyola University in Chicago and at Commonwealth | 16 | | Edison; and | 17 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn King loved the Lord and founded Christ | 18 | | Community Church in 1987; she served as first lady of the | 19 | | church and started the Women Ministries, Youth Church School, | 20 | | and Adult Co-ed Bible study; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn King was preceded in death by Utah Mangum, | 2 | | Victoria Wheeler, Diana Higginbotham, Ernest Young, and Paul | 3 | | Garrett; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn King is survived by her husband; her | 5 | | children, Marjalene, Anna, and Carl King, II; her grandson, | 6 | | Stephen Kelly; her sister, Mardis Garette; and her many nieces, | 7 | | nephews, and other family members; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 9 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 10 | | we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of | 11 | | Marilyn King; and be it further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Marilyn King as an expression of our | 14 | | sympathy.
