| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
Nathalie | 4 | | Ann Johnson, who passed away on March 23, 2011; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Nathalie Ann Johnson was born on July 19, 1930, in | 6 | | Chicago; her parents were Angelina Ledoux and Ernest Leufroy; | 7 | | she married James D. Johnson, Sr.; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Nathalie Ann Johnson began her formal education in | 9 | | New Orleans, Louisiana; she later attended Brownell | 10 | | Elementary, Parker High School, and Englewood High School in | 11 | | Chicago; she subsequently earned her associate's degree from | 12 | | Loop College; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Nathalie Ann Johnson was employed as a secretary | 14 | | for numerous corporations for many years; she was also employed | 15 | | with the City of Chicago; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Nathalie Ann Johnson was an active member of her | 17 | | community; she was a member of Breadbasket (now P.U.S.H.) and | 18 | | recommended the name to the Skills Bank Group at the time; she | 19 | | served as secretary of the Stony Island Park Civic Association | 20 | | and as recording secretary of the South East Community | 21 | | Organization; she was a member of the CVS, Caldwell-MacDowell, |

| 1 | | and South Shore PTAs; she was also a member of the Leadershiup | 2 | | Institute, the National Black Political Convention, the | 3 | | Community Resource Council, the Children's Foundation, the | 4 | | Women of Ekwefi, the Steering Committee of the Illinois | 5 | | Coalition Against the Death Penalty, the Afro-American Voters | 6 | | Alliance, the Citizen Information Service, the League of Black | 7 | | Women, the Lu Palmer Foundation, the "Black Express" Board of | 8 | | Coalition of Affirmative Action Policy, Erheard Seminar | 9 | | Training, the Shule ya Watoto Council Resource, the House of | 10 | | the Black Madonna, and Diaspora Spirit, as well as a soup | 11 | | kitchen and a suicide hotline; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Nathalie Ann Johnson enjoyed swimming, travelling | 13 | | throughout the world, and volunteering for numerous local, | 14 | | national, and international causes; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Nathalie Ann Johnson was preceded in death by her | 16 | | parents; her husband; her son, James D. Johnson, Jr.; and her | 17 | | brother, Warren "Cookie" Leufroy; and | 18 | | WHEREAS, Nathalie Ann Johnson is survived by her children, | 19 | | John E. Patterson and Angela Morris; her daughter-in-law, | 20 | | Alexis; her brother, Ambrose "Harry" Leufroy-Tyner; her | 21 | | grandchildren, Angel D. Jones, Rekia R.M. Jones, Zachary W. | 22 | | Morris, Jr., Joshua Patterson, and Jacob Gartner; her | 23 | | great-granddaughters, Angel M. Davis and Imani R. Jones; her |

| 4 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 5 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 6 | | we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of | 7 | | Nathalie Ann Johnson; and be it further
