| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jan Lee | 4 | | Ray of Arthur, who passed away on January 1, 2013; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jan Ray was born on September 24, 1949, in | 6 | | Decatur; his parents were Willis "Dude" and Helen Jane (Piper) | 7 | | Ray; he married Margaret Alice Elder on July 17, 1970, in | 8 | | Sullivan; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Jan Ray served on the Douglas County 911 Board and | 10 | | had served as Bourbon Township Supervisor, Arthur Chief of | 11 | | Police, and Arthur Village Administrator for several years; he | 12 | | served with the Arthur Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 | 13 | | years and was a past chief of the department; he also served as | 14 | | an Arthur Fire Protection District trustee; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Jan Ray was a member of the Vine Street Christian | 16 | | Church and served as a church elder and moderator; he was also | 17 | | a member of the Arthur Masonic Lodge and the Kaskaskia Country | 18 | | Club; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Jan Ray was an avid promoter of the Arthur | 20 | | Athletics for several years and served as coach for many | 21 | | baseball teams, softball teams, and football teams; he also |

| 1 | | served as the announcer of home football games for several | 2 | | years; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Jan Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his | 4 | | son, Jason Ray; and his sister, Jackie
Lauterjung; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Jan Ray is survived by his wife, Alice Ray; his | 6 | | daughter, Janet Ray; his grandchildren, Madeline, Lauren, and | 7 | | Vincent Ray; and his brother, Jerry Ray (Gwen); therefore, be | 8 | | it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 10 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 11 | | we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Jan | 12 | | Lee Ray; and be it further
