| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Charles L. Miner of Naperville, who | 4 | | passed away on February 1, 2011; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was born July 6, 1928 in Shelbyville, the son | 6 | | of the late Lester and Thirza Miner; he grew up in Chicago, | 7 | | attended Morgan Park High School, and was a graduate of the | 8 | | University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, He served in the United States Army during the | 10 | | Korean War, serving in a counterintelligence unit at the | 11 | | University of Chicago; he was manager at Industrial Oil & | 12 | | Chemical Company in Rockford for 23 years and worked his last | 13 | | 20 years in the insurance industry for National Benefit Brokers | 14 | | before retiring; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, He loved books and was an active member and | 16 | | officer in the Caxton Club, Chicago's oldest society for book | 17 | | lovers and collectors; his interests also included horses; he | 18 | | served as a riding instructor at The Midway Academy in the | 19 | | 1950s; he was an active member at The DuPage Center for | 20 | | Spiritual Living; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Charles Miner was the beloved husband of Jean (nee |

| 1 | | Showers) Miner, whom he married June 30, 1979; he was the | 2 | | loving father of William (Pam) Miner and Nancy (David) Nilsen; | 3 | | he was the cherished grandfather of David (Ashley), Andrew | 4 | | (Amy), Matthew and Sarah Miner; he was the fond | 5 | | great-grandfather of Cameron Miner; he was the dear brother of | 6 | | Thomas (Lucyna) Miner and Ruth McDade; and he was the fond | 7 | | uncle of Robert Miner, William Miner, Diane McDade, and Grace | 8 | | (Bob) Babikian; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 11 | | his family and friends, the passing of Charles Miner; and be it | 12 | | further
