| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Aaron Michael Olinghouse of Wood River, | 4 | | who passed away on April 7, 2011; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was born in Wood River on January 13, 1990;
| 6 | | Aaron was afflicted with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and had | 7 | | been in a wheelchair since age 9; Aaron resided with his | 8 | | grandparents, Vern and Connie Phillips in Wood River, with his | 9 | | father living next door; "Gram" cared for Aaron with all the | 10 | | love in her heart for that special child; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, When Aaron was in 4th grade at Wood River-Hartford | 12 | | Elementary, his friend, Scott Bailey, also afflicted with MD, | 13 | | and his aide, fell down a flight of stairs; Aaron was given a | 14 | | "Do The Right Thing" award for rushing to get them help; he | 15 | | went on to attend East Alton-Wood River Community High School, | 16 | | receiving his diploma from Mr. John Pearson, Superintendent of | 17 | | Schools, Faculty and Staff in 2007 in his home with his friends | 18 | | present; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Aaron loved the St. Louis Blues and Green Bay | 20 | | Packers; he and his father would attend games when he was well | 21 | | enough to go; he attended the last Rams-Packer game in St. | 22 | | Louis, where he met Brett Favre, who began to send him |

| 1 | | different things, nearly making Aaron cry each time from the | 2 | | joy he received; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his | 4 | | great-grandparents, Edward McGuiggan and Vern, and JoRuth | 5 | | Phillips; and his uncles, Edward and Mark McGuiggan; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Aaron Olinghouse is survived by his parents, | 7 | | Michael Olinghouse and Heather Brown-Howard; his grandparents, | 8 | | Vern and Connie Phillips; his great-grandmother, Gladys | 9 | | McGuiggan; his sister, Halie Sierra Olinghouse, whom he was | 10 | | very proud of and loved deeply; his uncles, Chad (Shana) | 11 | | Olinghouse, Jay (Georgia) Phillips, Craig (Heather) Shattuck, | 12 | | Eric (Lisa) Phillips, and Shane Phillips, who was like a | 13 | | brother; his aunt, Nichol Stuessel; his great-uncles, Michael | 14 | | (Bonnie) McGuiggan, Jeffrey (Terri) McGuiggan, Roger (Wilda) | 15 | | Phillips, Jeffrey (Nina) Phillips, and Larry Phillips; his | 16 | | great-aunts, Gay Buellman, Jill (Dennis) Stevenson, and Sheely | 17 | | (Denis) Reed; his great-great-aunt and great-great-uncle, Ruby | 18 | | and Jim Clark; Les-Lee Clark, a very special friend and cousin; | 19 | | his cousins, Rhiannon "Rosie", Emily, Caitlyn Aryn, Abigail | 20 | | Nina, Wyatt, and Karlie Matthew; and his best friend since | 21 | | pre-school, Taylor Marks; therefore, be it
