| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Sharon Lee Gromala-Walton, who passed | 4 | | away on July 17, 2011; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, She was born December 21, 1952 in Chicago; she | 6 | | married Gene Walton on July 24, 1976; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, She committed herself to the service of others; | 8 | | she started her career in social work as a teenage counselor at | 9 | | Gadshill Settlement House in the heart of the Chicago | 10 | | community; inspired by this work, she pursued her undergraduate | 11 | | degree at Southern Illinois University in 1974 and earned her | 12 | | master's degree from the University of Illinois in 1976; she | 13 | | retired in 2010 after 35 years as a social worker with the | 14 | | Waukegan Public Schools and joined Family Partnership to | 15 | | provide early intervention services to many families in the | 16 | | Lake County area; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, In 2007, she received the State of Illinois | 18 | | "Social Worker of the Year" award and the "Midwest Social | 19 | | Worker of the Year" award; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward | 21 | | and Irene (Vaclena) Gromala; her sister, Victoria; and her |

| 1 | | brother, Edward J. (Tamara) Gromala; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Sharon Lee Gromala-Walton is survived by her | 3 | | loving husband, Gene; her sons, Jared (Yadira) and Jordan | 4 | | (Abbey) Walton; her granddaughter, Ayanna Milan; her sister, | 5 | | Thaddine (Al) Gomez; her nieces and nephews, Sam, Vicky, | 6 | | Maggie, Lourdes, and Lauren; and many other nieces, nephews, | 7 | | cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 10 | | her family and friends, the passing of Sharon Lee | 11 | | Gromala-Walton; and be it further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Sharon Lee Gromala-Walton as a | 14 | | symbol of our sincere sympathy.
