| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Richard E. "Rick" Minwegen of Gurnee, who | 4 | | passed away on December 9, 2011; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He graduated from Loyola Academy in Wilmette in | 6 | | 1980 and was a graduate of the University of Illinois | 7 | | Champaign-Urbana School of Business Administration and | 8 | | Commerce in 1984; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, He worked for CUNA Mutual as a certified financial | 10 | | planner, and was a professional scuba diving instructor with 7 | 11 | | specialty certifications; he was an avid outdoorsman and | 12 | | adventurous spirit; his greatest pleasures and motivation were | 13 | | his boys; he loved watching and supporting his children through | 14 | | their spiritual development, studies, and play; his boys enjoy | 15 | | playing football, basketball, soccer, and track; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, He was an inspiration to his boys, family, and | 17 | | friends throughout his courageous and long battle with | 18 | | Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease); and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and | 20 | | Ann Minwegen; and his sister, Marianne; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Richard Minwegen was the loving and dedicated | 2 | | father of Christopher and Miles; he is survived by his sisters, | 3 | | Jacqueline (John) Hopkins and Patricia (Mark) Aijian; his | 4 | | brothers, Peter, Jr. (Bobbie Stiles) Minwegen, Thomas (Martha) | 5 | | Minwegen, and Andrew (Debbie) Minwegen; and many nieces and | 6 | | nephews; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 9 | | his family and friends, the passing of Richard Minwegen; and be | 10 | | it further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of Richard Minwegen as a symbol of our | 13 | | sincere sympathy.
