| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Leroy E. Fritz of Godfrey, who passed | 4 | | away on April 18, 2012; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was born in Belleville, on November 14, 1923, | 6 | | the son of the late Albert and Anna (Feder) Fritz; he married | 7 | | Carol Stillwell Teichmann on August 5, 1995; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, He served his country in the United States Army | 9 | | during World War II in the 745 Tank Battalion, in the 1st | 10 | | Infantry Division; he fought at the Battle of the Bulge; he | 11 | | also served at the Remagen Bridgehead, earned 3 campaign stars, | 12 | | the Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, He received his college and graduate degrees from | 14 | | Western Kentucky University, George Peabody College, and | 15 | | Southern Illinois University; he was employed as a teacher and | 16 | | administrator for the Alton Community Unit School District for | 17 | | 32 years, retiring in 1981; and | 18 | | WHEREAS, He was a member of the Evangelical United Church | 19 | | of Christ, where he sang in the choir; he played the violin in | 20 | | the Alton Civic Orchestra and was on the boards of the Alton | 21 | | Symphony and the Alton Youth Symphony; he was also a member of |

| 1 | | the Alton School Board and was a piano technician and tuner for | 2 | | many years; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Leroy Fritz is survived by his wife, Carol; his | 5 | | daughter and her spouse, Ruth and Chad Fisher; his sons and | 6 | | their spouses, William and Mari Fritz, Robert and Doreen Fritz, | 7 | | and John and Tacie Fritz; his stepsons and their spouses, Scott | 8 | | and Sandy Teichmann and Keith and Rita Teichmann; his 11 | 9 | | grandchildren; his 4 step-grandchildren; his 8 | 10 | | great-grandchildren; and his brother, Lloyd Fritz; therefore, | 11 | | be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 14 | | his family and friends, the passing of Leroy Fritz; and be it | 15 | | further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Leroy Fritz as a symbol of our | 18 | | sincere sympathy.
